Pastor’s Pen, December 18

Pastor’s Pen, Dec 18

The rich message of the incarnation

I love the stories of Christ’s incarnation, recorded in the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John. God reveals His desire for a very personal relationship with us, in his loving, gentle interactions with Joseph and Mary, through His messengers, the angels (Luke 1:26-38; Matthew 1:20-21). The Holy Spirit empowered them to do God’s will. Thanks be to God that He also gifts us faith, to believe and follow (Ephesians 2:8). We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

There’s the story of the shepherds (Luke 2:8-20). God calls the Jews, through an angel, to worship Christ. Then God calls the Gentiles, revealed in the story of the Magi, who came from the East (from Persia or Arabia), travelling for two years to worship the child, Jesus. Therefore, multi-ethnic church is important for us. We were never meant to segregate ourselves into different ethnic groups, as Christ’s Church. He designed the Body of Christ to be one. Beautiful!

“The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us,” (John 1:14). This is love in action.

Lord Jesus Christ, help us to be unified in love this Christmas. Amen.

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
