A Kingdom of Priests:
After God delivered His people, the Israelites, from the oppression of Egypt, He told Moses to share these words with them:
“You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine, you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation,” Exodus 19: 4-6.
Israel was to make up the Lord’s kingdom (those who followed Him as their King). Like priests they were to be fully consecrated to His service.
We, as God’s body, both individually and as a church, are set apart to do God’s will. As a kingdom of priests, we are, to proclaim Christ to those He places in our lives, and to serve in the temple.
This is my prayer for us. “O holy King, thank you for calling us to yourself. Thank you for my own body as a temple of your Spirit (1 Co 6:19), and for our church family as a temple of your Spirit (1 Co 3:16). Lift our voices to proclaim Your Name and share the Good News with others. Empower us to love Your Body, the Church. Help us serve You well as Your Kingdom of priests. Extend Your Kingdom here on earth, as it is in Heaven. This I ask in the precious Name of our King, Jesus Christ. Amen.”
