Reflection:
I have been reflecting tonight as we come out of Winter into Spring.
And after The Service Wednesday Celebrating the life of Daphne Fyfe a foundation member of our church who was at the 1st meeting in 1987. Man, she did a lot in her life. God and Faithfull Servant.
Several Members of our family and extended have died over the last 6 months.
- Cor Reyngoud Ex Elder
- Reginald Stewart Ex Member
- Terry and Sheryl Porter’s Dad and father-in-law.
- Lois Havill. David and Elizabeth Havill’s Mother and mother-in-law (Ex Member of Manurewa Baptist)
We also have some Members taking care of their very elderly parents:-
- Robin and Gary Allen looking after Gary’s ill Mother.
- Jill Crocks fits into her busy lifestyle looking after her dad.
- Julie our Paster looking after her mother in her spare time in Tauranga.
When our parents are in their twilight years it’s important that we do not forget the positive input they have had on our development and character.
What does God’s word say? Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
And 1 Timothy 5:10 Widows / Mother: is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the Lord’s people, helping those in trouble, and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.
And we get old, and it comes time to hand over the Mantle to the younger generation Our next church leaders just Like Jesus did when he picked the 12 disciples and gave authority to carry on God’s work. Mark 3:13-15 (We need some more younger elders).
We mourn our loved ones who have gone, but God’s word holds us up in our time of need.
John: 12: 24 Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
Our church is full of the fruit of our parent’s generation. And we have a bonus as sons and daughters of the Living God. Father. Son and Holy Spirit.
Spring is in the air. Flowers are coming out. New Growth is coming.
Go with a friend or family member and connect with the flowers of spring this week.
Blessings
David Hydes
