We are starting a new series today on “The Love of Christ.” We will be using the Gospel of Mark
Hatred in our world seems to be getting a little closer to home these days. Last weekend a friend posted on my FB page a note saying, “please stay safe.” It turns out a gang member fired 20 bullets into a house just around the corner from my home. Mark tells us in Mark 13 to expect such things in End Times. Satan wants us to be fearful of so many things.
However, Satan does not control the Church; our Lord Jesus Christ does! Christ’s authority over us comes with a love larger than anything we could dream or imagine. He wants the absolute best for our lives, transforming us more, day by day, into His glorious image.
Throughout the pages of Mark’s Gospel, we see Christ heal, forgive, teach, intercede, encourage, deliver, provide, reveal His sovereign power, include, serve, and much more. It is my hope that through this series we will understand more deeply just how much Christ loves us, and that we will take this truth to the core of our being.
When we grasp the extent of God’s love, sharing the Gospel with others will become second nature to us. Jesus said:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength,” and “Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these,” Mark 12:30-31.
But we can only give out love when we’ve willingly received it. Christ is love. When we take that from head to heart the Church is on fire ❤
