What is a “successful” church?:
Connect is a “small church” now. If we base our “success” on numbers we may feel like we have “failed.” But God’s ways are not the ways of the world. His idea of “success” is when we “love the Lord our God with all our heart soul, strength and mind, and love our neighbour as ourselves,” Mark 12:29-31; Lk 10:26-27; Mt 19:19; Ro 13:9; Gal 5:14, Jas 2:8. James describes this law of love as the “royal law” because it is the law of Christ’s kingdom. All of God’s laws fit into this law.
I am so excited that we will soon be able to meet in person. Because of our smaller numbers we won’t be able to do all the activities we did two years ago, before COVID hit. But now is our chance to do things more simply. A person can praise the Lord in song with just one or even no musician. The word can be preached without any need for sound. Two believers praying together is just as powerful as twenty. Jesus himself said, “For when two or three come together in my Name, there am I with them,” Mt 18:20.
What God wants to see is our heart, for him and our fellowman. During our ZOOM season God has matured us. We have learnt how to love and care for each other in times of need. We have learnt that when all the bells and whistles are stripped away, it’s all about relationships, with God, each other and the unsaved. Our mission statement states it succinctly: Connect with God. Connect with His church. Connect with the world. So, we are a “successful” church in God’s eyes 😊

About Pastor Julie
I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
