Pastor’s Pen 16th January 2022

16/01/2022 By Rex Booth

As 2022 gets under way, there remains much uncertainty around what may happen. This is especially true when we see what Omicon is doing in Australia. However, our response needn’t be one of fear but of faith.  Remember Jesus telling the story about building our ‘house’ on the rock so that in a storm we can stand. Sure, a storm can be frightening and challenging. Matthew in Chapter 7 recording Jesus words says that in the storm, the winds blew and slammed against the house. Powerful forces seeking to smash the house to bits, but they couldn’t. When we put our trust in Jesus, that is build our life on Him, we can stand when the storm slams against us and not be destroyed. Currently along with my brothers I’m going through an emotionally stressful time that Covid restrictions make even more draining. At times I can feel all at sea and a little overwhelmed by what is happening. However, when I cry out to the Lord, even quietly repeating His name and claiming His sovereignty over my situation, I sense His peace slowly spreading through my heart and being. He is my rock on which my life stands, and keeping alert to the fact that He is walking with me through this time, keeps my ‘house’ secure and strong to stand.

Each of us will face different challenges this year. As we step out boldly into 2022, hold tight to Jesus. Continue to build the depth of the foundations of your spiritual house on Jesus the rock. Don’t be afraid or avoid the challenges but journey through them experiencing Jesus’ leading and guiding. All the while declaring as the Psalmist declared, ‘Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Bless each one of you my brothers and sisters

Rex
