The power of prayer and fasting:
“In the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshipping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ‘Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.’ So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.” Acts 13:1-3.
I’m excited to see what the Holy Spirit will do in response to our church family praying and fasting for the past two weeks. What has the Spirit been saying to you? Let’s share some stories in our testimony time today. God is going to do more than sustain us financially. Christ knows that we need money and so He will provide. God will not allow a church, committed to prayer, to fall over. Our hunger for an intimate relationship with God, will see fruit.
Barnabas and Saul had no idea when they were fasting and praying that the Spirit would initiate the first missionary journey, beginning the spread of the Gospel out of the land of Israel. What exciting mission has God got in store for Connect? Is God birthing something in you? How is He building us to share the Gospel?
The Apostle Paul said, “We must go through many hardships to enter the Kingdom of God,” Acts 14:22. But when we stand firm, unite, and accept our hardships willingly, we will see the power of the Almighty’s right hand.
