The comfort of having a permanent place in God’s Kingdom:
The night before Christ was crucified the disciples were very stressed, and Christ said:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going,”
John 14: 1-4
After Christ’s death and resurrection, the disciples lived for God, sharing the Good News healing the sick, and bringing life and light to a broken world. They had the strength and desire to do this because they knew that no matter what happened, they had a permanent place of residence in the Kingdom of God. Their hope was in the assurance that one day Christ would return to earth, and one way or another all believers would be with Him, and our fullness of life would be complete.
Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life,” John 14:6. This week, as we pray, fast, and seek God, remember that each of us has a permanent place in God’s Kingdom, and a permanent place in God’s heart. He will not fail us.
