Pastors Pen 16th May 2021

16/05/2021 By Pastor Julie

Celebrating the ascension of Christ :  Do you remember what you were doing at Easter? What sort of things have you done since Easter? It’s hard to remember isn’t it? 6 weeks is a long period of time. But this Sunday is “Ascension Sunday,” when we remember when Christ ascended to Heaven 40 days after His resurrection (Acts 1:3).

Luke 24:50-51 says that Christ was blessing the disciples, with His hands lifted as He left them and was taken up to Heaven. Acts 1:9 confirms this. Can you even begin to imagine what that looked like?

“They were looking intently up into the sky as He was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white (angels) stood beside them. Men of Galilee they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into Heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen Him go into heaven,”

Acts 1:10-11

Christ is going to come back with the same resurrection body. Mt 24:30 says, “They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory.”

Jesus tells us always to be ready for His Second Coming, for nobody knows the day or the hour (Luke 12:40). Are you ready?
