Pastors Pen 11th April 2021

11/04/2021 By Pastor Julie

ABUNDANT LIFE :  Jesus said in John 10:10, “I have come that they may have LIFE, and may have it abundantly.

The Greek word for “life” here is “Zoe.” This word means “the eternal, divine life of God.” Christ did not come so that we could have a better human life, although that is definitely an outcome. Rather, God wants to share His “divine” life with us.

Another word for “life” in the Bible is “bios”, from which we get the word “biology.” This “life” is concerned with our “physical” life. Although God wants us to look after our physical bodies, this should never come at the expense of nurturing “zoe” spiritual life. We can spend lots of time, money and energy trying to get that body shape we desire, but if we are not eating and drinking Christ in His Word, and spending time with Him in prayer, then what ultimately is the point?

So let us daily nurture this inner divine life gifted to us. Let’s cleanse the inside of our earthly vessel, so that others will be drawn to the abundant life they see. Lets immerse ourselves in Christ, so that His glory is revealed. Then our witness will cease to be forced, and become natural, authentic and full of grace.

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
