Pastors Pen 21st February 2021

21/02/2021 By Pastor Julie

HOW TO  SURVIVE IN UNCERTAIN TIMES

Facing another unexpected Lockdown, we may have found ourselves this week a little anxious. Will this affect my job or study? How long will this go on? Will there be more community cases? How safe am I? These reactions are normal and valid. However, Jesus shows us a very different way of living in times of uncertainty.

As the Apostle Paul was returning to Jerusalem after his third missionary journey, the prophet Agabus warned Paul that he would be bound by the Jews of Jerusalem and handed over to the Gentiles, Acts 21:10-11. The frightened disciples urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem, but Paul stood resolute. He did not fear. He knew who his God was. Jesus Christ had commissioned him to share the gospel to the Gentiles and not be deterred by opposition.

Our Saviour Jesus Christ is in control of our lives. He knows exactly what is going on in the world. He also knows our thoughts.

1 Peter 7-8 says:

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be self-controlled and alert.”

Even in a pandemic, we are called to “shine our light” and remain a vessel of peace in a fractured world.

May God’s love pour in you and through you today

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
