Pastors Pen 13th December 2020

13/12/2020 By Pastor Julie

The birth of Christ was for you

God sent the angel Gabriel to a town called Nazareth (in today’s Northern Israel, near Lebanon), to speak with a virgin named Mary, who was pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of King David. The angel told her that she would give birth to a son and that she was to give him the name, “Jesus,” which means “Yahweh saves” or “the Lord is salvation.” So, Mary became pregnant, not by natural means but by the power of the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35).

Jesus Christ was therefore fully God and fully human, but He limited Himself as God, and lived, in human form on earth, around 2,000 years ago, from around 3BC to 30AD. God, choosing to come in the form of a humble, vulnerable baby is called the “Incarnation” of Christ. The divine Son of God took on human flesh, in order to be the Saviour of mankind.

Christ was the perfect human. He lived a sinless life (2 Co 5:21). His death on the cross was the reason for His birth. At the cross Christ took all human sin upon Himself, therefore making a way for all people, who daily do things against God’s will, to be able to have a relationship with a Holy God, through faith in Him.

“For God so loved the world

That He gave His one and only Son,

That whoever believes in Him shall not perish

But have eternal life,”   John 3:16

If you want life in all its fullness today, and you believe in the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, then ask God to forgive you of your sin today and ask Christ into your heart. What better Christmas present than hope, joy, peace, love, and eternal life 😊

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
