Faith demands devoted loving action
It’s been said by many church leaders recently that the Church worldwide is being “sifted” right now. God is allowing this world-wide pandemic. He could have stopped it long ago, but He hasn’t. Why do you think that is? Is God separating “the sheep from the goats” (His true followers from the “prosperity” followers)? How will the church respond to suffering? Will we resent God for not blessing us, or will we be even more determined to stick close to the Lord in worship, prayer, reading our Bibles, serving, attending church and reaching out to others?
God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5). When we worship our comfort and our individual prosperity over and above what God calls us to be and do, God will respond to that. No matter what we are going through God calls us to first love Him and then love our neighbour.
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these,” Mark 12:30-31.
“Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another – and all the more as you see the day approaching”, He 10:25.
We are in a spiritual battle, and that requires us to put on our spiritual armour everyday and choose to follow Christ and be His light “to the least of these.”
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you (James 4:8)
