Staying Steadfast in the Face of Uncertainty
“Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10
It’s normal humanity to “fear” when we’re faced with uncertainty. Even Christ had a moment the night before His crucifixion when He fell to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me,” (Mt 26:39). The “cup” was a symbol of deep sorrow and suffering. Christ was not fearful of the cross. To die for our sins was His mission from the beginning. The “cup” for Jesus was the Father’s face being turned away from Him, while Christ who had no sin, was being made sin for us. Never before had Christ been separated from the agape love of “Abba, Father.”
The good news for the Church is that God promises to never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). No matter what we are going through He is there. Now is the time to pray and be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10)????
May grace and peace be with the Church everywhere
