A big thank you to all our Fathers today, who in Jesus are honouring, respecting and guiding their children. You’re awesome! I pray your children bless you today.
I’m also acutely aware of people in our midst whose fathers have died. If you were on good terms when they died, then hold onto all the beautiful memories. Take some time today to reflect and be thankful.
There may be some fathers here today who are estranged from their children for various reasons. Make sure you pray every day about your circumstances and let God guide you in how to move forward.
Perhaps you would like to be a father but this is not possible. In what other ways can you fill this void? Have you thought about mentoring, fostering or helping others with child care?
For those of you who have been hurt by your fathers, I am so sorry. Take all your anxiety to God and ask him to heal you and guide you. As best you can try not to become bitter or vengeful. Seek wise counsel.
As we celebrate Father’s Day today let’s reflect on the greatest Father of all, our Heavenly Father.
He is “a Father to the fatherless,” Ps 68:5. Jesus tells us to “praise our Father in Heaven,” Mt 5:16. He also tells us to “pray to our Father in Heaven,” Mt 6:9. Our heavenly Father feeds the birds and we are “much more valuable than they”, Jesus says in Mt 6:26.The angels of children always see the face of Christ’s Father in Heaven, Mt 18:10. Our Father in Heaven is always at His work, Jn 5:17. Christ and the Father are one, Jn 10:30. So we can cry, “Abba, Father,” Ro 8:15. Our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ, 1 Jn 1:3.
Happy Father’s Day God. We are so grateful to be adopted into your family xo
