Who have you adopted into your spiritual family?

06/06/2019 By Pastor Julie

When Jesus was being crucified he saw his mother standing near the cross.
“When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to His mother, “Dear woman, here is your son, and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home,”

John 19: 26-27.

Why didn’t Jesus just leave his other biological brothers to look after his mum? Rather, he chose John, “the disciple that He loved.”

Jesus also said, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in Heaven is my brother and sister and mother,”

Matthew 12: 48-50

It’s not enough for us just to take care of our biological family. Christ also places us in a spiritual family …. the Body of Christ …. His Church. So whose back have you got? Who are you praying for? Who are you opening up your home to? Who will you give ‘the shirt off your back’ to? Who have you adopted into your spiritual family?

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
