Today we begin our first week of Prayer & Self-Denial. Over the next 3 weeks we’ll be looking at what our Baptist people are achieving in the countries that God has called them to. They are doing awesome things! But as the Body of Christ we cannot leave God’s work in the world to a select few.
So what does it mean to be committed to the Mission of God?
Jesus said…. “And this gospel of the Kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come”, Mt 24:14.
The Christian Church is called to “preach the gospel and make disciples of all nations” (Mt 28:19). Obviously it isn’t wise to enter a country with a dominant other faith and start preaching the gospel openly. You could be deported, imprisoned or worse. God gives skill sets to our people …engineers, teachers, nurses, entrepreneurs, etc, and then calls them to the nations and people groups He wants to reach. Perhaps you yourself feel called to the mission field overseas. We can help with that!! (See Kirsty, Julie or Helen). Your own unique skill set may be just what is needed. Whether we go or stay we are all called to participate in the Mission of God. So our prayers and our finance are crucial to the work of Tranzsend (the sending branch of the NZ Baptist Missionary Society).
So let’s fill our little bags, and proudly proclaim “I am committed to the Mission of God.”
