Sunday 14th April
Today is recognised in many Christian circles as “Palm Sunday.” Although this term is not in the Bible it refers to Christs “Triumphal Entry” into Jerusalem, which is recorded in all four Gospels. Five days before Christ’s crucifixion our Lord entered Jerusalem riding on a donkey and was welcomed by the masses who praised Him with palm branches. The prophet Zechariah prophesied this around 500 years before Christ fulfilled it”
“See, your King comes to you,
righteous and having salvation,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey,”
Jesus Christ is our Messianic King. He is righteous – He is the divine standard of morality and ethics. Christ is the One True God who offers forgiveness and salvation. He is gentle – He comes in peace and humility. A donkey was considered a lowly animal of peace; in contrast to the war-horse.
Rejoice greatly O true sons and daughters of Zion! His Kingdom is here and we belong to it. Therefore, let’s also enter every space in peace and humility. This must be our witness and our act of worship, in a world where hate and anger dominates so many.
