Jesus Christ said, “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” Matthew 11:28-30.
Are you feeling tired and weighed down by life’s troubles? Do you wake up each day feeling fresh hope, or do you wake up after sleep still feeling stressed? While there are times in our lives when we do experience genuine tension and worry, especially when circumstances feel outside our influence, this is not the daily state that God wants humanity to be in. God tells us to “rest” in Him. That means we have to make a daily decision to hand over our anxiety to Christ and ask Him to carry it. Then we need to ask God to help us through our difficult time. Lastly we need to trust that God hears our prayers, has our best interest at heart, and will guide us through.
As we do this, be prepared that His way is not our way, and how God gets us through may be different than expected. Our own picture is like looking through binoculars; we have no peripheral vision. But Christ sees everything …. past, present and future. He is omnipresent. Before we can learn from God we must first choose to trust Him no matter what. His yoke is only easy and His burden light when we make a choice to trade places.
