On Wednesday night I got wet feet walking on my lounge carpet. That’s never a good sign! On further investigation the water was also seeping out under the vinyl in my kitchen and bathroom. It wasn’t looking good . Calling an emergency plumber at 11pm seemed extreme, so I prayed that God would halt the water until the morning and give me a good night’s sleep. Waking rested, I got on the internet to search possible causes – never a good idea! I read the worst case scenarios and pictured myself destitute! However, by 10am the plumber had been and replaced a leaking valve in the hot water cylinder and now all that is left is the clean up.
This week a few of our congregation have faced health issues. It’s like the panic you feel when your lounge carpet seeps water. “Oh no! What does this mean? What will it lead to? What will it cost? Can it be fixed or is it all over?” That’s a natural reaction when faced with bad health news.
But as Christians we must not stop there. In your health issues have you asked God to stop your condition from worsening, and to grant you healing rest? Did you thank Him when He did? It’s never a good idea to go on the internet and research your symptoms because always what we read is the worst case scenario! Hand it over to the experts – our Great Physician, God, and the Drs He uses to heal with medicine.
Get a team of people to pray consistently for you. God may just surprise you and turn your fears and worries into peace and hope.
“For I am the Lord who heals you,” Exodus 15:26
Jesus often said “Your faith has healed you,” Mt 9:22; Mk 5:34; Mk 10:52; Lk 8:48; Lk 18:42
Jesus also said, “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own,” Matt 6:34.
