Treasure

21/06/2018 By admin2

Events in our lives can serve as triggers to make us stop and check what we are doing and why we are doing it.
In our church family we should regularly stop and ask why, or why not? What is really important? Are we prepared to consider a perspective different to what we have been taught or held firmly to and look to see what Jesus is doing?
Does our busyness prevent us from what we feel God is asking of us? How do we respond to that? What would Jesus want?
We have been studying the letter of James and hearing words that were driven to be written by the Spirit of God. But as with all that the Spirit does, there is a focusing back towards Jesus and what He had to say. Every chapter I hear echoes back.

Years ago I remember discussing in a lifegroup what were the “treasures” that we should store up in heaven –but in reflection I think we missed the real point – having Jesus and our relationship with Him as the most valuable treasure. Like the parable of the man who discovered a Treasure in the Field or the one about the Pearl of great price, this is the one we need to invest in – and it takes priority over everything else. What He values, we should value. What He stresses we should stress.

God bless you in your week , as you prioritize what you do with Jesus in your thoughts.

David Havill
