After preaching on “Faith without good deeds is dead” from James 2: 14 – 26 last week, I was so encouraged to see the church pitch in for the preparation of our monthly “shared lunch” and then clean up afterward. Well done everyone – that was faith in action! To follow on, how have you gone this last week with an act of kindness for someone in need? We need to intentionally think about these things because “good deeds” that cost us in time and money are not what the average person succeeds in doing week after week. But that’s the difference the Church should witness ….. love in action.
Speaking of “love in action” please remember the 7 Connect people who left for Fiji this morning on mission. There has been a recent outbreak of Dengue Fever in Fiji (caused by mosquito bites), so please pray that nobody will get sick. That’s the “faith” part of Acts 2. Genuine faith is when we believe the Word of God – that Jesus will do what He says He will do, and then we follow Christ in all His ways. Therefore we need to pray, and we need to pray believing that God will protect and guide, and then we all need to get on with mission.
We still have gaps in our ministry opportunities in church life, so please have a look at the whiteboard today and sign up for something. When all people work together for good the mission of God has more chance of succeeding through us. No lukewarm church here! Agreed?
“So you see, we are shown to be right with God by what we do, not by faith alone,” James 2: 24.
Grace and peace be with us all
