If you are a Christian, and of an age where you understand what repentance and faith are, then I expect that you will have been water-baptised. Do you remember the day you were dunked?! For most Christians, their baptism was a very significant event. Something wonderful happens at baptism! It is my belief that each baptism is surrounded by a hoard of angels cheering a person on in support. In my experience, something life-changing happens at baptism through the power of the Holy Spirit. But it takes courage to stand in front of the whole church and be baptised. However, when you do, God blesses you hugely for your obedience. From this point on He will not take His hand off you. Something happens at baptism! Grace is poured out! There is usually also much spiritual opposition leading up to a person’s baptism and Satan tries to discourage the person from going through with it. But when they do they are released to greater heights in the spiritual realm. After Christ’s baptism, He went straight into ministry.
During baptism we witness to those watching that we have “died to sin” and are now living a new life in Christ. This outward act reflects our inward transformation.
If you haven’t been baptised and you are a follower of Jesus Christ you are actually sinning against God by with-holding this act of obedience. My advice to you is that you look seriously at the reasons that prevent you. I have information packs here on “baptism” if you would like to read about it, and then come and see me and we will do this!
Ephesians 4:3-6: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
God bless you as you run your own race of faith
