Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho

11/06/2017 By Pastor Julie

As a Baptist Church, we belong to the Baptist Union of Churches in NZ. The New Zealand Baptist Missionary Society (NZBMS) is our missions organisation. Tranzsend is the sending arm of this organisation and is responsible for the care of overseas workers such as Pip. The mandate of NZBMS is to enable the Baptist Churches of NZ to fulfil the Great Commission anywhere in the world that God directs. Each year we participate in what is called “Prayer and Self-Denial,” which runs for 3 weeks. Every year a receptacle is given to each Connect attendee, and this year it is a kete, which has been hand- made in NZ. The idea is that over the 3 weeks you save some money in it, to be given to NZBMS for their work overseas. The theme this year is “Ngā Taonga Tuku Iho” which means “Treasures handed down.” As Christians, our treasure must be the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Kingdom of God, all people of the world, and the Holy Spirit empowering that God gifts us so as to fulfil the Mission of God. Each week we will focus on our “treasures” on the mission field overseas as they seek to give value and dignity to God’s oppressed and broken “treasures” made in His image.

God bless you as you prayerfully consider your place in the Mission of God.

Julie

About Pastor Julie

I’m passionate about the church – building believers up in their faith, to be all God intended them to be; and I’m passionate about sharing the love and hope of Jesus with people who don’t know Him yet.
