According to a 2013 Bible reading research, run by the Bible Society, only 29% of Christians in New Zealand read the Bible at least weekly. The Bible is God’s written Word to us, teaching us about the character and will of Christ, the Living Word. Therefore we need to discipline ourselves to set aside a part of our day to read the Bible and meditate on the Word. Because many of us do not have a daily reading plan I have inserted a yearly plan with this newsletter. If you stick to this plan you will get through the whole Bible in 1 year!! You can begin at any point during the year. Each week you will read from both the Old and New Testaments. What do you think? Are you willing to take on the challenge? Bruce Rea said that when he went to Africa people were hungry for the Word and even many pastors did not own a Bible; and yet there were hundreds of salvations and healings. In the west our Bibles too often sit on our bookshelves and only get opened periodically and yet we still expect God to work miracles in our lives. If we want revival in NZ churches we all need to get serious about the Word. Happy reading friends.
Bless you heaps,
Julie
