1 John 1: 8 – 10 says that there is no-one without sin, and Romans 3:23 says that we’ve all fallen short of God’s glorious standard. If we left it there we’d all give up wouldn’t we? The Christian life would be just too hard. But God didn’t leave it there did He? ” For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood,” Rom 3:25. What a wonderful gift and what a freedom we have.
The problem comes when we rest on God’s grace to the point of viewing repentance as not necessary. What a continual attitude of repentance does is bring us much closer to God, because the very word “repentance” means “a turning away from sin, disobedience or rebellion and a turning back to God.” When we daily repent of the “little” sins we commit we are less likely to completely blow it by leaving the church and disowning God when we feel that He or the church has let us down. Repentance actually brings us freedom because Satan hates it, and God rewards it with more anointed power.
It usually takes more than 2 months for a behaviour to become a habit, but in God’s Kingdom, every little bit helps. Have fun repenting friends!
