Peace

11/12/2016 By Admin

Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist, prophesied this about Christ, when Mary was just 3 months pregnant:

“The rising son will come to us from Heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

peace“Peace” isn’t really the word that comes to mind at this time of year is it? This last week our church building was forcefully broken into and robbed. That same night the same thing happened to the liquor store across the road. Four days later the unit attached to my home was forcefully entered, and my neighbour robbed while she was in the shower. For several days these events stripped me of my peace as I battled with outrage that this was happening. In that process as I sought the Lord He restored my inner peace to me. People can rob us of many things, but they cannot permanently take away our peace, joy, hope and love, because these gifts from God defy our circumstances. If you are feeling anxious and stressed out today, keep seeking your Lord  Jesus, who came as “light” to guide your feet into the path of peace. Aren’t you thankful that He came as a defenceless babe, rather than a warrior with a gun.

Julie
