Peace, joy and giving to those in need this Christmas

19/12/2016 By Admin

The “Peace of God” is such a great treasure that we as believers possess. All the money in the world cannot buy it. The Syrian civil war has been named the worst humanitarian crisis of our time. It has lasted 6 years with an estimated 500,000 deaths and millions of refugees. Aleppo, the rebel-held Syrian city, fell to government forces this week who have been accused of executing innocent civilians. At least 100,000 children are under siege in Aleppo. This Christmas, why not think of donating to a Christian agency like World Vision who are waiting on the borders of Aleppo with food and medicines and supplies, but are unable as yet to get in to help. We can also pray that the gospel will go out, not just in Syria, but to all areas of the earth that as yet refuse to acknowledge Christ.

God wants us to be joyful this Christmas, because “joy” is a sign of the Holy Spirit’s power. However, revelling in our own peace and joy without trying to help our fellowman in need, is not the way of the Lord. Give generously this Christmas, and not out of a sense of duty, but out of reverent submission to Christ. Freely God gave up His throne to attend to the oppression and poverty of humanity, and freely we are called to do likewise. Thank you to all who will give today towards our missionaries, Pip, and Rex and Yvonne Booth. Thank you also to those who gave towards the Christmas Angel Appeal. May God’s peace bless your soul.
