What motive do you have behind your actions?

30/07/2016 By Admin

How are you coming on with sharing your faith? We all know the saying “Actions speak louder than Words”. Well the actions that really make a difference are those that come from the character of Jesus showing through our lives. This happens as we let God’s Spirit mould our lives, and as we respond to the opportunities and needs we meet with His perspective in mind. When Jeremiah was watchingpotter1 the potter working the clay he would see him remove rubbish out of the clay and work it into the form that reflected what he wanted it to show. I have watched that same process with a potter. As you reach out to help others, is it Jesus they see?

Today’s passage from the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:1-4, reflects on what we do and asks the questions “what motive do you have behind your actions?” and “Does what you do focus towards God?” The reward you get depends on how you answer these. Avoiding a public “display” avoids the temptation for it to become something it shouldn’t be.

Sharing your faith is so much more productive if our lives reflect the genuineness of a satisfied life in Jesus.

God bless,

David Havill
